Vacancy for a Young Persons Violence Advisor (YPVA)

An Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to support  young people affected by domestic abuse.

Funding currently for 3 years. 

Salary range £21,581 - £25,545 dependent on experience and qualification.

Choices (formerly known as North Kent Women’s Aid) Limited is an independent registered charity offering support, information and refuge to people affected by domestic abuse throughout North and West Kent.     

The successful applicant will be delivering a unique specialist service across North and West Kent to young people between the ages of 13-17.  The role is to deliver a package of support covering crisis intervention, risk and needs assessment, safety planning and individual support planning. An understanding of the client group is essential and knowledge of associated barriers and support needs of young victims who have experienced domestic abuse is preferred.

A key aspect of this role is to provide support through multi-agency partnership working and advocate for clients in the multi-agency risk assessment conferences (MARACs) across Kent therefore the candidate must have highly developed liaison and collaboration skills. 

We would therefore welcome applications from dynamic and capable individuals who have the experience and knowledge to work within this specialist form of safety and support. A Young Persons Violence Advisor or Independent Domestic Violence Advisor qualification would be desirable but not essential.

Choices (formerly known as North Kent Women’s Aid) Limited is an independent registered charity offering support, information and refuge to people affected by domestic abuse throughout Medway, North and West Kent.  We are seeking to fill the following posts:

Community Domestic Abuse Worker

(35 hrs per week) NJC Scale 5.22 £20,253 plus Essential car user allowance

This role will include the delivery of community programmes such as Freedom, DAY, Recovery

Toolkit, to cover a busy Helpline providing advice and support, and provide one to one outreach work to victims of domestic abuse. The successful candidate must have previous experience of working with victims of domestic abuse, have extensive knowledge of the issues surrounding domestic abuse and have experience of facilitating group programmes such as the Freedom programme. 

Vacancy based in Maidstone but the successful applicant will be expected to travel to other parts of North & West Kent. The applicant must be in possession of a full driving licence and have access to their own transport.

Women only need apply (Equality Act 2010 pursuant to Schedule 9, Part 1 applies). Currently funding is available until February 2019.

Young Persons Outreach Worker

30-35 hours per week (annualised contract) NJC Scale 5.22: £20,253 pa pro-rata, plus Essential car user allowance

This outreach service will involve one to one and group work in the North and West Kent, primarily working in schools.    You will be required to provide in depth support to young people (aged 11-18 years of age) who have experienced trauma related to domestic abuse as well as to deliver a healthy relationship programme to students.

The applicant must be in possession of a full driving licence and have access to their own transport.

Currently funding is available until the 31st March 2017.  Interviews to be held on the 12th and 13th July, 2016.

Outreach Worker

(20 hours per week) NJC Scale 5.22: £20,253 pa pro-rata, plus Essential car user allowance

This role will involve one to one telephone outreach support for standard/medium risk victims of domestic abuse. The successful candidate must have previous experience of working with victims of domestic abuse.

Currently funding is available until the 31st March 2017, possibly may be extended.

Social Enterprise Kent has established itself over the recent past as one of the main social enterprise bodies in Kent, giving advice to many charities and budding enterprises, and running training and employment services. Purpose

Based at The Links, Herne Bay the purpose of the role is to develop Social Enterprise Kent’s business support activities in line with business and strategic plans.  To work with the senior management team to design and deliver training courses, workshops and 1-1 support and advice. The role will include establishing the image, reputation and working ethos of the Company and to promote this both within and outside of the Company.
